RingersJanuary 2010 was a highlight for the ringers, Prof Bernd Meyburg from Germany visited Newcastle and we fitted 10 Amur Falcons with satellite transmitters. Amazing results were received up to date one bird is now near Carolina, 2 are in the Vrede area and the other 7 are 'homers' in and around Newcastle.
European Swallow Roost at Hibiscus Dam in Hibiscus Ave, this is an excellent ringing site, on the 5 + 6 February 2009 we had polish ringers doing research on European Swallows Two retraps during 5 + 6 February. One European Swallow with a ring of the British Museum, ringed on 23 August 2008 and 167 later, 9289km it was retrapped at te roost in Newcastle The second retrap was from Finland no details available at this stage Ringers from Standerton also join us on the weekend of 14th February to ring European Swallow Weekend of 8th of March 2009 2 ringers from Middelburg will be doing ringing at the site.
